Overview
A vacation unlike any other awaits you at Open Ocean, a 27-bedroom estate located on an acre of prime oceanfront land in Kill Devil Hills. Event- and reunion-ready, this home is one of the largest in Kill Devil Hills in terms of bedroom size, and includes almost 15,000 square feet of indoor living space. Open Ocean is professionally decorated by the popular interior design firm Urban Cottage, known for their upscale design, and contemporary yet warm approach to beach house decor.
You will truly not find another home like this on the Outer Banks. The wide lot size means that 10 of the 27 bedrooms are oceanside, and the pool is elevated next to the dune line to expose sweeping panoramic views over the ocean and has an 8' x 14' built-in hot tub and a large adjacent kiddie pool. Indoors, the amenity list is extensive, and includes a rec room, a sports bar, a theater, an exercise room, an oceanview great room, a gourmet kitchen, an elevator, three laundry rooms, 27 bedrooms (all with private baths), and impressive custom finishes throughout.
With a stunning location right on the water, a host of popular amenities, and plenty of space for large groups or multi-family vacations, you are sure to make memories that will last a lifetime at this one-of-a-kind Outer Banks home.
Check-In Time: An early check-in is not available for this house. Check-in time will be between 4pm and 5pm.
Special Events Welcome: $3,500 special event fee and $3,000 refundable security deposit required for all special events. Maximum of 100 attendees, including the guests already occupying the home. Are you reserving this home for a wedding or special event? Please contact our office to inform us of your plans. You will receive an addendum to the lease which will need to be signed and returned. There is a four-foot-wide compacted rock path along the south side of the home to make it easier to transport large event equipment to the back of the house/pool area.

Special Access Amenities: This home offers a ramp leading to the front
entrance, an elevator that travels to all floors, a king bedroom (#7) on the middle floor features a large roll-in shower and a roll-under sink. Please note that none of our properties are ADA compliant.

Sitting on an acre of land, Open Ocean is quite a sight. Enter the ground level covered entry porch via the ramp or the stairs. The lowest level of this home includes eleven king bedrooms, all with private baths with walk-in tile showers. Nearly every bedroom on this level has access to either an east or west-facing deck. Because of the width of the lot, five of the bedrooms face towards the ocean. The 12th bedroom on this floor is a bunk suite with three custom-built double-over-double bunk beds, an in-room lounge area for TV watching or video games, and a private bath with a shower/tub. The ground floor sitting area has a mounted TV and a kitchenette with a refrigerator, a sink, a dishwasher, and a Keurig. All five east bedrooms and the centrally located lounge have sliding glass doors that lead to a deck that spans the width of the house. There is an outdoor ping-pong table, a wide array of outdoor seating options, two enclosed outdoor showers, and stairs that lead to the deck above.
