Pine Island Community Information
We hope the following information regarding the community, amenities, and important policies are helpful to you. To ensure your visit is enjoyable and safe, we appreciate your attention to the following information.
Pool & Spa Information & Admission Guidelines:
Rental companies will supply a weekly check-in list for Pine Island Pools. Guests will check in with Pine Island pool attendants for each pool visit. On guests’ initial pool visit, Pine Island staff will issue a weekly pool pass to each party to identify pool guests when checking in at either community pool on the next visit to pools. The summer pool hours are from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, weather permitting. Swimming is always at your own risk. For safety reasons, children under the age of twelve must have parental supervision.
Pine Island Beach Club:
The Beach Club/south pool complex is located at 351 Audubon Drive (just north of the Hampton Inn and is a facility for the exclusive use of Pine Island property owners and their guests, including renters and associate members. The facility consists of:
- A large oceanfront swimming pool.
- A small, shallow wading pool for young children.
- Private access to the oceanfront beach.
- Pool area surrounded by a large deck area equipped with seating with umbrellas.
- A generously sized dune-top deck with seating and relaxing views of the ocean.
- Restrooms, changing areas, showers, and lockers.
North Swimming Pool:
In addition to the Beach Club, “The North Pool” is located just off North Cove Road. The parking lot is one block inside the Black Pine Road entrance. This facility is for owners/renters only. Follow the sidewalk marked Pine Island Beach Access 3 to the north pool and other amenities:
- Volleyball court
- Playground
- Poolside ping pong and cornhole
Pine Island Racquet & Fitness Center:
Stay active, healthy, and fit while on vacation. Visit Pine Island Racquet & Fitness Center, the premier facility on the Outer Banks. Located on the west side of Route 12 opposite the Hampton Inn, 290 Audubon Drive, Corolla.
Indoor climate-controlled tennis courts are available for rent, as well as private, semi-private, and group lessons. Looking for a great workout while playing tennis and having fun? Sign up for our daily clinics ($25 per person). Reservations are required for court time and clinics! Check out the fully stocked pro shop: clothing, hats, racquets, balls, and accessories.
Four outdoor pickleball courts plus two indoor pickleball courts are available for rent. Don’t know how to play pickleball yet? We offer beginner private and group lessons to help you learn America’s fastest-growing sport. No paddle? No problem, demo paddles are available at no charge.
The Fitness Center offers cardio/training equipment, a weight room, and more for daily/weekly fees.

Outdoor Tennis:
Pine Island also has available a single community tennis court located next to the north pool swimming facility down Beach Access 3 just off North Cove Road. In-season reservations are required by calling 252.453.3904. Owners/renters may reserve the court for same-day or next-day play. Court time is limited to one hour per day per house. Reservations for the north pool tennis court times are highly suggested due to peak season demand for court times. Off-season open play is from October to Memorial Day. Please Park in the Black Pine Road parking lot only and take the short walk-up Beach Access 3 to the tennis court. No roadside parking; this is strictly enforced.
Speed Limit:
Limit vehicle speed on community streets to 15 MPH.
Parking:
Parking is permitted only in the paved parking area of each home. NO PARKING on community streets, so as not to hinder access for emergency vehicles. Please make note of your street address if you need to call for emergency assistance.
Golf Carts:
Pine Island allows the use of street-legal, licensed golf carts for use on community streets only. Golf carts are not permitted to be driven on community pathways and accesses. Golf carts can only be driven by a licensed driver. No parking on the sides of the roads and beach accesses. Park carts only in paved areas at each home and in community parking lots. All golf carts must follow all posted community street signs and rules.
Trash & Recycle Can Rollout & Rollback Service:
All trash and recycle items must be placed in the correct wheeled containers provided under or next to the house. Please do not roll cans to the street. A trash can service will both roll out and roll back the trash and recycling cans on service days. All items should be placed inside cans, as any debris or bags left outside of the can will not be collected. Please do not overfill cans, lids must be able to close completely for trucks to dump cans. Please note green and black cans are for trash, and green cans with yellow lids are for recycling. Please do not block access to the containers under the house with vehicles. Trash pickup is on Monday and Friday from May 1st to September 30th, and Mondays only in the off-season.
Beach Fires & Fireworks:
Per Currituck County ordinances and community rules, beach fires are prohibited, and it is unlawful to use any type of firecracker, torpedo, skyrocket, sparkler, paper lantern, or similar item anywhere in the Pine Island Community. For your safety, these rules are strictly enforced.
No Grilling on Decks:
Most homes in Pine Island have a designated grill area located on the ground level away from the house. Grills should never be moved from the designated area. Grilling on decks is prohibited. Grills should not be placed on decks (at any level) at any time.
Dune Protection:
Please keep off the dunes. Walking, climbing, jumping, and digging on the dunes is not allowed. Please do not damage or remove fences, sea oats, beach grass or other foliage as they help preserve our delicate ecosystem.
Pets & Leash Requirements:
As a courtesy, please remember to clean up after your pet and do not bury pet waste in the sand or throw it in the ocean. Dogs are allowed on the beach year-round if they are restrained by a leash.
Motor Homes, Trailers, Campers, Boats:
These vehicles are prohibited in Pine Island and may not be parked or stored in the community. Please contact your rental company for alternate parking arrangements.
Ponds:
Community ponds and water retention basins within Pine Island are for stormwater retention and should not be used for recreational activities such as swimming, fishing, boating, etc.
