Carolina Designs is pleased to provide a wide selection of pet friendly Outer Banks vacation rentals. Vacation homes that are pet friendly allow only well - behaved adult dogs. Our rental homes permit a maximum of two dogs per home and a pet fee of $95 plus tax will be charged. During your stay, please clean up after your dog at your rental home and while visiting the beach. Observe some basic precautions such as not letting your pet drink salt water, avoiding too much sun, taking care to make sure they are not unleashed near busy roads, keeping an eye on rip currents if your pet goes into the ocean for a swim, remaining aware of how hot the beach sand becomes under their feet, and rinsing sand from their coats after a day at the beach. Pets are not allowed in the pools.
If your pet needs medical attention or boarding, we have several great resources here on the Outer Banks, with animal hospitals and clinics in every town from Southern Shores to Nags Head. We also have several pet stores that provide everything from basic necessities to freshly baked goodies. Each town has rules about when pets are permitted on the beach and whether they need to be on a leash, and these rules depend on the time of year, so please check with our vacation rentals specialists for specifics on pet friendly areas.
When your dog is ready for a change of pace from the beach, there’s plenty of other great Outer Banks attractions you can visit with your furry family members, including the dog park in Kitty Hawk, Jockey’s Ridge State Park, Fort Raleigh, Roanoke Island Festival Park, Nags Head Woods Preserve, Wright Brothers National Memorial, Whalehead Club Heritage Park, and Cape Hatteras National Seashore. You’ll find that the Outer Banks loves pets and welcomes them.
