Monteray Shores, located in Corolla along the northern Outer Banks, is nestled among the pines along the banks of the Currituck Sound. Vacation rental homes in this community are adjacent to more than two miles of nature trails with Currituck Sound access. Your family will be able to choose from a variety of amenities, including a large clubhouse with pool, soundside dock with boat ramp, half court basketball, clubhouse with fitness center, games and pool table, tennis courts, playground and planned in-season activities. Pristine beaches, easily accessible via community parking, are nearby. Monteray Shores is the only community on the North Beach that offers a boat launch for small craft (kayak, sailboat, jet ski). Corolla, the “gold coast” of Currituck County, is situated on an expanse of Atlantic Ocean at the Northern end of the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Built in 1875, it is the only natural red brick lighthouse on the East Coast and was constructed to provide a safe pathway for and warning of shallow waters to sailors entering what has long been known as “the Graveyard of the Atlantic.” The main attraction in Corolla still remains the expansive, wide beaches of finely textured sand and clean rolling surf. Today, Corolla is widely known for its large, upscale vacation rental homes, many with private pools and luxurious amenities such as in-house theaters, which overlook vast stretches of beach. With these quiet communities, shopping and historic sites, Corolla, North Carolina, has become the perfect Outer Banks family vacation rental spot. Corolla has easy access to golf and tennis. Catch the latest release at the local movie theater, take surfing lessons, go on a kayak tour, rent jet skis, or take a guided tour in search of the wild horses of Corolla, - herds of mustangs that roam freely in isolated areas and are descendent from wild Spanish mustangs brought to the area hundreds of years ago. For your shopping convenience, grocery stores, gift shops, surf shops, coffee shops, ice cream parlors and souvenir shops are found in several local shopping centers, including Monteray Plaza, Tim Buck II and Corolla Light Town Center – an historic district near the lighthouse has been restored and provides a lovely location for a walking tour.
