The Outer Banks is well-known as a sport-fisherman’s paradise.
If you plan on going fishing during your trip, please be aware that a
Coastal Recreational Fishing License is required for anglers 16 and older.
The license is required to recreationally fish in the state’s Coastal Fishing Waters,
which include sounds, coastal rivers and their tributaries, and out to three miles in the ocean.
Annual License
State Residents, age 16 or older - $15
Non-residents, age 16 or older - $30
10-day License
State Residents, age 16 or older - $5
Non-residents, age 16 or older - $10
